The Bible is God’s Word. It is the only written revelation from God to us and our true source for Christian belief and living. It was written by human authors, supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is the truth without any error.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of what is called the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). When any person chooses to believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives in that person. The Holy Spirit leads believers to tell others about Jesus. The Holy Spirit also guides believers as they grow in their faith and live to honor God.
God is the Creator and ruler of the universe. God has created mankind in his image. God is holy, just, and righteous. He is also merciful, good, and kind. He is love. God is Father to all who trust in His Son, Jesus Christ, and will one day judge all who reject his Son Jesus.
Jesus is the Son of God, and like God, has existed eternally. Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life. He died on the cross for the sins of every person who has ever lived, but was raised to life three days later to show his power over sin and death. Jesus ascended to heaven and will one day return to earth to rule as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Human beings are made in God’s spiritual image. People are the crown of His creation, created to know, love, and be like Him in character. However, sin entered the human race through Adam. Sin corrupts us all and leads us into sinful acts. Sin separates us from God and eternal, abundant life.
Salvation (being saved) comes when a person understands that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for their sins. By confessing to God that we are guilty of sin, and then trusting in Jesus for forgiveness of their sins, we are saved. Salvation is secure and forever for the person who is truly saved; this is because salvation comes by God’s grace and love and is not dependent on our own efforts or works.
Christian maturity comes as we grow more like Christ in character and behavior. This process takes time, prayer, the Bible, relationships to others, a variety of life experiences and an attitude of submission to God’s perfect plan. We do not grow to stay saved. We grow because we are saved.
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is not a completion of Salvation but is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, Jesus Christ. Baptism symbolizes the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life. It is a testimony to his/her faith in the final resurrection of the dead. It is a church ordinance, and therefore a prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.
Jesus Christ will bodily return to earth and set up His Kingdom. All of the dead will be raised. Everyone who has ever lived will stand before a judgment. Only those who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior while living will enter this Kingdom. We will live eternally with God in heaven. Those who rejected God’s free offer of salvation in Jesus Christ will be separated from God forever in hell.
